WITH YOUR SUPPORT,
WE ARE ADVANCING LEARNING AT USASK
Investing in the University Library is an investment in ALL students at the University of Saskatchewan.
Your support in any area, from student awards to Indigenous art to transformed study, work and gathering spaces, provide USask students with a welcoming, inclusive and supportive experience while attending university.
KNOWLEDGE
THE WORLD NEEDS
Providing academic support services, inclusive spaces, and relevant and distinctive collections at USask.
INSPIRE
STUDENTS
TO SUCCEED
Creating programs and services specifically designed to support students – whether financially or through programming – has never been more important than it is today.
Featured Projects:
$2 MILLION GOAL
We will create an endowment fund that will provide a steady and reliable source of funding for a variety student support programming that students rely on every year.
Our Take a Break program, for example, provides students from all colleges and units with a range of supportive programming during exam time, such as making healthy snacks and activities available to help reduce stress and increase energy and focus.
We will also create a new Student Success Coordinator position, that, in addition to engaging in student-focused outreach and advocacy, will administer support programs throughout the library.

$300,000 GOAL
We will create new student awards that will provide financial support for their education, as well as unique opportunities to engage with our library collections.
We will create two new $50,000 awards, one for graduate students and one for undergraduate students, focused on engagement with library collections and our deep commitment to open access.
We will also create new awards ($200,000 total) for students and researchers who have a focus on archival research/material and special collections.

$100,000 GOAL
Our University Library is a place where people gather to engage with information and ideas. To facilitate this engagement and encourage critical conversations, we will establish a bi-annual dean’s lecture that will allow us to host inspiring and much-needed discussions where students, staff, faculty and our extended community can come together to explore, challenge, create and share perspectives.

SUPPORT INDIGENOUS ACHIEVEMENT
Supporting our efforts to decolonize the library and contribute to student success, while amplifying Indigenous voices and perspectives.
Featured Projects:
$500,000 GOAL
The Indigenous Storyteller in Residence is a highly visible and engaged position that plays a unique and valuable role in facilitating the decolonization of the University Library and our institution as a whole.
Building on our first successful rounds of this program, we are seeking ongoing support to ensure that this program continues to uplift and amplify Indigenous voices and perspectives. Through different modes of storytelling, the Storyteller highlights Indigenous cultures, traditions and knowledge, and facilitates learning about and from Indigenous people.
The Storyteller will also develop, participate in and lead projects and programs that promote intercultural understanding and story-sharing between and among Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. They will not only serve as a source of support and advice to the University Library, but to members of the wider university community as well.

The Indigenous Art Program seeks to acquire and place Indigenous art throughout the library to enliven spaces and provide unique opportunities to present and engage with Indigenous knowledge and perspectives through art.
Your support will help us support Indigenous culture on campus and acquire unique pieces that spark discussion and encourage engagement among the thousands of members of our university community who frequent our library spaces every day.

$100,000 GOAL
One of the ways we will respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action and support the university's goal of working with Indigenous people and communities to embrace reconciliation is to increase the number of Indigenous language material and resources in our collection. Having these resources available to students, staff and faculty is crucial to creating a diverse and accessible learning and information environment.

DESIGN
VISIONARY SPACES
With your help, we can design and create modern spaces and collections that support learning and student success and that are also highly accessible, collaborative and reflective of diversity.
Featured Projects:
$3 MILLION GOAL
The Murray Library is one of the best examples of how transforming library spaces can improve the student experience evidenced by our recent upgrades to University Archives and Special Collections. We will continue this transformation on the ground floor to make it more accessible, to bring in more technology and to create additional spaces for study, work and collaboration.
We will open the space on the ground floor to make it easier for everyone to access the library’s many collections and services, including University Archives and Special Collections. The current outdoor space beneath the ground-floor cantilever will be converted to indoor study/social space complete with new glazing that brightens the whole ground floor and creates a more visible, welcoming learning environment.

$400,000 GOAL
We will adapt our current library spaces so they are more spiritually and culturally inclusive, through the addition of smudging rooms, foot wash stations, prayer rooms, and non-denominational spaces, as well as spaces that support different learning styles, such as a low-sensory room for students with sound, light, and other environmental sensitivities. Our plans also include the creation of more gender-inclusive washrooms.
We will also expand our programming and partnerships in ways that make the library more welcoming and inclusive, such as building partnerships with LGBTQ2+ organizations; student groups; cultural institutions such as Wanuskewin and Remai Modern; the Saskatoon Public Library, and others. Together, we will create new, and expand existing, opportunities to strengthen our relationship with diverse groups both on and off campus.

$200,000 GOAL
As our library resources become more digital in nature, they become more widely available and more easily accessible. Donors will play a significant role in supporting this process ensuring our collections, in particular special collections, are digitized – preserving these important artifacts and making them widely available.
We are, for example, committed to expanding the Neil Richards Collection of Sexual and Gender Diversity, to ensure that we have a robust collection of materials and resources that can be accessed by a wide variety of users, including community-based and cultural organizations. Donor support will play a critical part in the ongoing development and digitization of this collection.
