About the campaign
A comprehensive campaign is a highly organized and focused fundraising initiative that spans the whole university to support the university’s highest priorities. Through this campaign, USask with the support of its donors, will be the university the world needs.
USask has never been better equipped to tackle the world’s most complex issues – such as climate change, infectious diseases, and access to safe food and water – but we can’t do it without you. With you by our side, we can unlock the knowledge and skills needed by the next generation of leaders, for Saskatchewan, for Canada and the world of tomorrow. Together, we will be what the world needs.
USask has launched the largest campaign in Saskatchewan’s history to raise $500 million to solve the world’s greatest challenges.
Our alumni, donors, partners, faculty, staff, students, and friends are the foundation of our success. USask has never been better equipped to tackle the world’s most complex issues, but we need champions like you to make this bold vision for the future, a reality. By supporting critical research, Indigenous achievement, inspiring students and visionary spaces, you foster the future discoveries, ideas, solutions, and the people who will make the world a better place.
The Be What the World Needs Campaign will focus on funding four priority areas that are core to everything we do: conduct critical research; support Indigenous achievement; inspire students; and create visionary new spaces.
The campaign will provide new opportunities for students and attract leading researchers in targeted areas where we excel. Through new scholarships and cultural programming, we will further promote Indigenous knowledge-keeping and create pathways to post-secondary education for more Indigenous students. We will ensure more students are supported through scholarships and receive mental health support, while providing experiential opportunities that will equip them to become tomorrow’s leaders. Our learning spaces will be reimagined for students of tomorrow, intentionally designed as collaborative gathering locations and innovation hubs with cutting-edge technology to foster creative collisions.
We call it a comprehensive campaign because it will benefit all areas, all colleges and schools, and all disciplines of the University of Saskatchewan. Every dollar donated to the university of Saskatchewan is used for your intended purpose, whether that be student scholarships and bursaries, cultural programming, critical research or enhanced campus spaces.
Every gift matters. Your donation, combined with donations from other alumni and friends, can have a profound impact. We know we are stronger when we tackle challenges together, and together we know we can achieve our vision to be the university the world needs through this ambitious $500-million campaign.
We are incredibly grateful for the operating grant we receive from the Government of Saskatchewan. However, that funding goes towards day-to-day operations of the university, everything from salaries for staff, to heating bills. Tuition, similarly, supports expenses related to the student experience. Our university needs these sources of revenues to operate.
Donations from the campaign allow us to dream bigger and provide new, previously unimagined opportunities that will inspire research breakthroughs, support students and Indigenous communities, and evolve our campus spaces.
Every dollar of your donation is fully directed to the initiative, project or scholarship of your choosing. All donations are spent in alignment with the original purpose and intent that they were donated for.
We would be happy to send you a report to let you know the impact that you have had and provide additional details on how your donation was spent. Please contact our Advancement Office at (306) 966-5186 or email giving@usask.ca.

If we don't hear from you within 60 days we will send out a follow-up reminder. After 120 days, we will assume you would like your pledge deactivated. Tax receipting
As a donor to the University of Saskatchewan, you can expect to receive a letter of thanks with your charitable receipt information within two weeks.
Yes it does! USask is a registered non-profit organization; therefore, any gift to the university is tax deductible. When you give, we will mail you a receipt you can use for income tax purposes.
If both you and your spouse/partner are filing claims, you can use either of your tax receipts, no matter the name on the receipt itself.
Our charitable registration number is 11927 9313 RR0001
We must abide by Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) guidelines that state, "Tax-deductible gifts must be postmarked on or before December 31st of any given year to qualify for a tax-deductible receipt for that year."
Contributions to qualified Canadian charities (like accredited universities and colleges) are tax deductible if you are an alumnus or a member of your family is or was enrolled at the University of Saskatchewan. If part of your income stems from Canadian sources, and you will be filing your tax return with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), feel free to use your USask tax receipt on your claim.
It is always a good idea to check with your financial planning and legal advisors to get a complete list of your options.
For more information, please Canada Customs and Revenue Agency or contact us.
Monthly gifts by post-dated cheques, pre-authorized chequing, or credit card
Our office policy with respect to receipts of monthly paid gifts is to issue one receipt per calendar year. This reduces administrative costs and assists our donors by eliminating the need to keep track of incoming receipts. Receipt for your total yearly gift will be forwarded to you in January of next year and each January thereafter, or in the month following your final payment.
Monthly gifts by payroll deduction
Gifts made through payroll deductions will be reflected on your T4 slip. No receipts will be issued as you can use your T4 in the same fashion as a charitable receipt. If you are making continuous gifts through payroll deductions, our records will reflect that you have made an on-going pledge to the University of Saskatchewan.
The University of Saskatchewan strives to ensure that its donor records are accurate. If the information outlining your gift is incorrect, please contact us. We would be pleased to replace your receipt.
