Why Give?

As a USask graduate or member of our community, you understand the dedication and sacrifice required for students to Be What the World Needs. Through the pandemic, the commitment and resilience of our students has been tested in unimaginable ways.

Even while we slowly emerge from COVID-19, students continue to face daunting financial challenges. In addition to tuition, basic expenses such as rent and groceries remain substantial. Combining these factors with increasing mental health challenges throughout the pandemic, USask students’ need for financial support is as crucial as ever.

Libby Epoch, President, Huskie Athletics Council and Huskie basketball athlete, fourth-year College of Engineering student and donor-funded scholarship recipient

That’s why your donation to the Campaign for Students is so vital. Your gift is inspiration and immediate support for students so they know there are people cheering them on to Be What the World Needs.

Donors provide engineering students, like Libby, with leading-edge labs, an innovative learning environment and the tools to explore and practice.

A USask education dramatically changes the course of a student’s life for the better. With your generosity, we can help ensure that students are equipped to be what the world needs.

Your donation helps students have more time to focus on studying. Countless USask students are faced with working to support themselves through school and managing growing expenses in addition to tuition. Knowing there is financial support available can relieve stress and lighten the financial load for students in need.

“I believe that donors across the world are integral to making the experience of university rewarding. No matter one’s field of study, education is a rigorous task that requires focus and dedication. By rewarding students who are excelling in their studies, donors have aided them and provided them with a rejuvenating and encouraging push to keep moving in the right direction.”

- Uday Chhina, third-year student and College of Arts and Science undergraduate scholarship recipient

“Receiving an award had alleviated so much stress and allowed for me to enjoy my final classes at USask without so much anxiety. I started off last year not knowing how I was going to be able to manage such a heavy load. Receiving an award funded by donors like you took that load off my shoulders.”

- Janice Osecap, graduated in June 2021 from the College of Education, Centennial Fund for Scholarships and Bursaries recipient

USask students are what the world needs. With your help, students can stay on track in their educational journey.

USask students continue to navigate the challenges posed by the pandemic. Among the challenges, many are still studying remotely and have difficulties finding part-time jobs as the economy continues to recover.

You can make a difference for students immediately. With you on their side, USask students can continue to thrive amidst these difficult circumstances to earn their degrees.

“Your generosity helps students have more time to focus on studying. So many students need to work to support themselves through school, and life is expensive. Knowing there is financial support available can relieve stress and lighten the financial load for students in need. Your generosity will help students get back on track!”

- Tasnim Jaisee, President, University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union 2021-22, College of Arts and Science
